All our Rail Industry small tools and plant are hired through Gill Civil Engineering.
Titan Plant Hire Limited is the plant operating company of the Gill Group, and provides Gill Civil Engineering Limited with the full range of construction related equipment.
A major capital expenditure was focused on the plant required to fulfill the anticipated workload within Gill Group Limited and the decision was made to purchase items of plant and tools associated in all areas of the construction industry. The Company policy is that any plant or tools required to execute the works will be owned and not hired. This plant, backed by our own fitters, ensures that down time is kept to an absolute minimum as required by the constraints of construction contracts.
At Gill Civil Engineering, our plant hire company ‘Titan Plant Hire’ has an extensive fleet suitable for undertaking even the most complex of projects, anywhere in the country. We continue to invest in our fleet to ensure we have the most reliable and efficient, as well as environmentally-friendly, plant available for our clients' projects and for external hire - with or without an experienced operator.
Our plant list includes excavators ranging from 3 to 35 tonne, dozers, numerous dumpers, telehandlers and rollers. All of our plant is maintained under a strict maintenance plan with regular inspections recorded on an in-house maintenance database. We have an experienced team of plant fitters and also a number of service vans, meaning we can respond to breakdowns quickly and carry out routine servicing on-site with minimum disruption to site operations. An on-call or on-site fitter service can be provided as well as tipping and recycling facilities.
A large quantity of small plant and equipment including trackside lighting, generators, compressors, pumps, concrete placing equipment and other items are also available.
Recycling (Aggregates)
With growing requirements for improved sustainability in the rail industry the utilisation of recycled materials is increasingly important.
Each year approximately 285 million tonnes of aggregates are used as raw construction materials in the UK with around 25% derived from recycled or secondary sources. This percentage is higher than many other European countries but has the potential to be expanded further by utilising materials such as reprocessed rail ballast such as that available from the Story Reprocessing Facility.
The aggregate we can supply is 100% recycled, which means our customers can be confident they are purchasing a sustainable aggregate from an environmental friendly facility without compromising on quality.
The aggregates supplied from our company have been used by many of the major construction companies as-well and builders merchants throughout the United Kingdom.
