Project: Bristol Guided Busway | Client: Balfour Beatty & MetroBus | Duration: Jan 2017 - April 2017 | Supplier: Hansons Concrete & Titan Plant Hire Ltd

Scope: Installation of 6500 m2 of CRCP (Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement) and Installation of 64 No. Ground Beam Anchors

Gill Civil Engineering (GCEL) was responsible for the installation of a Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement designed for the guided busway which improved transport infrastructure in Bristol.

GCEL acted as a specialist contractor, constructing a total of 1.2 miles of guided busway from Long Ashton to Ashton Avenue Bridge. Due to the innovative design, we worked within tight tolerances, to assure the CRCP was placed to the correct levels guaranteeing the safe movement for the guided bus.

This project was constructed during the cold winter period where conditions for concrete placement were difficult. Logistically the site was a challenge. We worked closely with our concrete supplier and Balfour Beatty to guarantee our works would be completed before the tight deadline.
