Gill Civil Engineering has developed an excellent reputation in the airfield construction market.
Our senior staff has many years experience in the planning and execution of a wide variety of airfield construction projects, with a particular emphasis on the production of slipformed concrete paving.
The effective use of a slipform paver is wholly dependant on the regular delivery of concrete with a uniform level of workability (consistence).
To this end, we operate concrete batching and mixing plants rated at 120 cubic metres per hour, which incorporate highly efficient twin shaft mixers, ideally suited to producing large quantities of high quality air entrained concrete to match the demands of the slipform process.
We operate a fleet of 25 tonne articulated dump trucks to haul the concrete to the paver, and can complement the slipform process with all the requirements for associated hand laying of concrete, including road forms, tentage and finishing tools.
Since commencing slipform paving in 2004, Gill Civil Engineering have completed over 700,000 square metres of airfield pavement construction on both civil and military facilities in the United Kingdom.
In 2009 we established a base in the United Arab Emirates in order to carry out paving work in the region, and have successfully slipformed an apron at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
